Filing Summer Pics - Purdy Anniversary

I'm filing summer pictures...looking back at one of our busiest summers yet. Here are a few memories I've yet to share...this one from the very start of the summer.

In June, we joined friends for a 40th wedding anniversary celebration. It was a gorgeous day for the outdoor party and G enjoyed watching the adult games and playing with the little ones in their own games. C and S are his best friends.

Being the first weekend in June, the water was freezing. S braved it, but G opted to run around in the warm sand instead.

And kick the soccer ball around. Between this and the playground, the kids enjoyed a telling kickoff to what turned out to be a very, very active summer.

Traipsing About Autumn

This autumn day starts with Dad's return from duck hunting. G's favorite thing about hunting season is checking out the game Dad brings home. This is a wood duck. And that is our duck retrieving Lab feeling a bit proprietary.

Next, we head out to scout another deer blind spot. The guys take their guns along with an eye out for grouse. Of course G's gun is a toy, but it makes him feel like it's just him and his Dad out doing guy stuff.

Found an ideal spot for a deer blind, but saw no grouse. Next, we climbed to a higher elevation in search of the perfect backdrop for a family portrait. We found the right backdrop. As well as a nice, fresh set of black bear tracks. Cool.

CCC Vintage Ride 2006

Perhaps the last CCC event of 2006 for us. We enjoyed this one with Chuck, Dennis, Tom, Mike and Michael and the rest of Ken's bunch. As an added bonus, Barb, Mark and Darcie joined us Saturday. Missing them terribly, G was thrilled to find them in camp when he and his Dad returned from a 10-mile loop.

Below, G tries to hang with the guys. Dennis, Ken, Eric, Robert, Kim (not a guy obviously), Dad, Josh and Chuck.

And here, G enjoys some one-on-one time with Mike.

Saturday was beautiful and, holding out hope, Mom convinced Dad to stay for one more night of visiting. Too bad it started to pour rain right after dinner. It rained all night and we had the pleasure of tossing wet camping gear into the truck only to set it all up again at home the next day. Ah well.

If weather prevents our attendance at the Color Tour, we will see all of you next year.
